We are saddened to report the death of the former Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf. Taking to Twitter, Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja expressed his sadness about his sudden demise. He wrote that he is devastated to hear about the passing of the umpire and described him as a good umpire with a wicked sense of humor. Ramiz added that he always put a smile on his face and continue to do so whenever he thought about him. Many sympathies with his family for their loss, wrote the chief further.

After the news of Asad Rauf’s passing surfaced on the internet, many personalities rushed to social media to pay him heartfelt tributes. Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal posted a picture of the late umpire on Twitter and wrote that he is sad to know about the news of the former ICC umpire’s demise and added that may Allah grant him Magfirat and give his family Sabr. Apart from him, other people along with the general public also mourned his untimely demise.

The umpire’s name is trending on multiple platforms as netizens are paying him tributes. According to reports, Asad Rauf took his last breath on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. He was 66 at the time of his passing. Sources confirm that he died after suffering cardiac arrest in Lahore. It is really saddening to learn that the former upmire has taken his last breath. Tributes and condolence messages have flooded the Twitter and other social media platforms.

Talking about Rauf, he umpired his first ODI in 2000 and his first Test in 2005. Rauf was named in ICC’s Elite Panel in 2006 and he remained a part of that until 2013. Other than that, he officiated 64 tests, 139 ODIs, 28 T20Is and 11 women’s T20Is as either umpire or TV umpire. Apart from this, Asad Rauf also officiated in 40 First Class matches, 26 List A matches and 89 T20s overall, including IPL matches. He also had a successful domestic career as a middle-order batter.

It is reported that Rauf played a total of 71 First Class matches and scored as many as 3423 runs. Besides, he scored 611 runs while playing 40 List A matches.
