In recent news, a 30-year-old woman named Betty McFadden will not stand trial due to mental instability. She was accused of setting a Circle K employee on fire. The incident involved two women getting burned and one of them is still facing life-threatening injuries. For those unversed, the horrifying incident took place in March this year. The woman, who mercilessly set the employee on fire, seems to have been mentally unstable and due to this reason, she would not stand trial. Check further details of the matter in the article below.

Betty McFadden

McFadden was deemed mentally unstable to stand trial after a psychological evaluation. It is reported that the woman was charged with attempted murder in the case. Let us add that the verdict of the psychological evaluation could alter after the charges. Reports suggest that McFadden filled a canister with gas and went up to Circle K gas station at Massachusetts Avenue and North W Street near Brent Athletic Park.

Carrying the canister, the woman entered the store, and before anyone could process it, she poured it over Joie Hellmich, a woman clerk in the store. After pouring the gas canister on Circle K employee, Betty McFadden chased the latter as she ran around the store. She followed her with matches and went on to set her on fire. To help Hellmich, another woman stepped forward but she got burned in the process as well. Considering their serious health condition, both the women were taken to a hospital for medical assistance.

However, the victim could not be saved as she succumbed to her injuries. Sheriff Chip Simmons, Escambia county police chief said that their thoughts and prayers are with the victim and her family and called it a senseless and practically indescribable act of cruelty. The Florida Department of Children and Families will oversee this decision if Betty’s case is brought up under any circumstances.

It is coming forward that if McFadden is declared fit mentally, the case can be re-opened and can change the status of the case. Betty was listed as homeless in jail records and was held without bond on an attempted murder charge in the previous reports. Not much information about the case has come forward at this moment. However, our team is trying to fetch the crucial details about the case. Stay connected with Social Telecast to get more such updates and the latest news.
